See, if anyone had told me the whole truth, I'd have known that they were entering their dotage; Abys are that fantastic.
The first time I ever saw one, my friend Marsha and I were out riding our horses, and there was this house cat stalking us like it was deciding which of us it was going to take home for lunch. Marsha told me it was an Abyssinian, and I promised myself that someday, I'd own a creature with an ego like that.
About ten years ago, I decided that it was time, and went looking for one. I found Colleen, and Unkämen Abyssinians. To begin with, I had to 'pass' an interview before I could purchase one. I brought home Little Girl, and quickly learned why. An Aby is a gentle but dauntless force. Little Girl, or 'Elgee,' has this huge vocabulary of at least fifty different 'words' that she uses, including one that has startled several of my guests: if you interrupt her while she's plotting, you'll distinctly hear, "Nooooooo!" An Aby is the best, and Colleen is the best of the best.
