Books

I never owned a cat that could hunt as well as this one. The funny part is that 'Books' spent her first couple of years as striclty an indoor cat, until i was forced to get rid of her and sent her to a friend in vermont. at the ripe old age of two and a half, books transformed herself into an amazingly capable hunter, and lavished a whole bunch of unwanted treats on my best friend and his wife.

An anecdote here on the wisdom of Books: When jim was in his last days, his speech center failed, so he couldn't communicate with the home-care nurse that spent the days there. In the shuffle of things, books sort of was forgotten with everything else that was going on. She used to climb on top of Jim while he was sleeping, which was most of the time, and begin kneading. Her prickly nails were enough to make jim wake up with a quiet yell, whereupon the nurse would grab books and thrust her out of doors - which is what books wanted in the first place!
